Railway A DVD featuring action-packed
events at the Mid-Norfolk Railway Running
at weekends throughout July and August Dennis Howells 0-6-0 Pannier
Tank 9466 made a welcome third visit to Mid-Norfolk in 2008. demonstrating
once again the popularity of the steam locomotive. On the 6th &
7th of September to mark the 40th anniversary of the closure of the
Dereham to Kings Lynn line in 1968. The railway operated an intensive
DMU service between Dereham & Wymondham based on the original
1960s timetable. An interesting collection of local photographs and
railway artifacts were displayed in the station at Dereham. |

Railway 2006 Autumn Diesel Gala A DVD which features video footage from the Mid-Norfolk Railway 2006 Autumn Diesel Gala, Chapter One begins at Dereham where we see Class 50 (50019) ‘Ramillies’ topped and tailed with Class 31 (31538) as they depart platform 3 with the first service train of the day. DRS Class 37 (37259) was the welcome guest locomotive for this years autumn event, undoubtedly (along with the fine weather) responsible for the high attendance figures. Some of the crew members traveled from as far- a-field as Carlisle. Understandably most of the sequences in this film features the star of the weekend 37259 which can be seen at various locations along the line. Chapter Two, “The Fish n’ Chip Special” is a short sequence showing friends and family along with volunteers and other passengers enjoying a round trip from Dereham to Wymondham behind 37259 with 31538 at the rear. Battle
of Britain Class Pacific “Tangmere” visits the Mid-Norfolk Railway A DVD featuring unique footage of “Battle of Britain” Class Pacific 34067 “Tangmere” on Mid-Norfolk Railway metals. The visitor replaced failed V2 “Green Arrow” which was originally scheduled to haul “The East Anglian” Railtour specials on Saturday May 5th from Dereham to London and Norwich to Scarborough on Monday 7th May. With watering and inspection facilities now installed and working at Dereham, the Mid-Norfolk was the Ideal stabling location for the locomotive. Visitors and enthusiasts gathered to enjoy the sights, sounds and smell of the Bullied Pacific, as Sunday’s service trains were steam hauled by the eminent guest. Railway Diesel Gala Weekend Spring 2007 The Mid-Norfolk Railway's Spring 2007 Diesel Gala saw the launch into traffic of the ‘Stratford 47 Group’s 47596 “Aldeburgh Festival”. 47596 was resplendently turned out in her newly applied BR blue “Stratford” livery, depicted by the silver roof, a prominent feature of Stratford 47’s. A welcome visitor to the event was the South East Locomotive Group’s (SELG’s) Class 33065 “ Sealion”. The locomotive stayed at the Mid-Norfolk for a further three weeks following the Gala and saw regular passenger operations, including a SELG Charter on March 30th. Approximate

visits the Mid-Norfolk Railway May and June 2007 2007 saw the welcome return to the Mid-Norfolk Railway of Dennis Howell's GWR Pannier tank 9466. Always a popular visitor to the line, 9466 hauled a series of weekend and bank holiday steam services during her two-month stay at the railway. Chapter one and two features video footage of 9466 during her stay during May and June at the Railway. For one day only, the train stopped at Hardingham to enable passengers to travel to Hardingham village fete. A Special bus service was laid on for the occasion in the form of a 1959 built Bristol MW5G, beautifully restored in Eastern Counties burnt maroon and primrose livery. LS 789 is part of the Eastern Transport Collection. Chapter Three features a short film "A day at the Mid-Norfolk Railway". After a successful month-long visit to the Mid-Norfolk Railway in 2006, 9466 is seen working her last day of public services on Saturday 3rd June. The film begins with a slideshow of pictures, which were captured on the day and ends similarly with some pictures from the "Transport through the Decades" event, held at Dereham Station on 17th June 2006, plus a couple of scenes from the northern section of the line County School and Worthing. Railway 2007 Autumn Diesel Gala For their ever popular Autumn Diesel Gala, the Mid-Norfolk Railway’s resident fleet were joined by two visiting locomotives courtesy of DRS. Both locomotives, Class 37/5 No.37688 “Kingmoor TMD” and Class 57/0 No.57011 were pristinely turned out, with the “DRS Anglia On A Mission” headboard being proudly carried by each loco in turn. The weekend
featured an intensive timetable beginning on a very misty Saturday
morning with an earlier than usual departure. The 08:00 service was
hauled by MNR based 47596 “Aldeburgh Festival” with the
newly restored blue-grey Mk 2 carriages, which were used throughout
