North
Yorkshire Moors
Weekend Break
16th & 17th August 2008
Below are a modest selection of pictures and video from an
absolutely extraordinary weekend at the NYMR.
Saturday’s
weather was dull for the most part and Sunday began very wet indeed.
But things were about to brighten up big time as
I wandered onto Grosmont’s platform 4 intending
to observe the departure
of the12.30 service for Pickering.
Blissfully
unaware at this point that my son Ben was about to sprung the
biggest surprise of my life…
My 60th Birthday present! .. Grosmont to Pickering and return, on the footplate
of 60007 ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’!
With only a minute to spare I climbed aboard almost speechless and a little
emotional...WOW!
Grateful thanks to Charlie and the crew of 60007 Dave, David and John.
And to my son Ben for springing on me the most unforgettable birthday surprise.

North Yorkshire Moors
LNER Festival 2008
Soaking wet but loving every minute
So hugely enjoyable was our three day visit to NYMR, that by late Sunday
afternoon it was with great reluctance that we left for home.
Despite the weather our spirits weren’t at all dampened. To be entertained
by such an impressive line up of eminent steam locomotives
was a experience I will remember for some considerable time. Well done and
thank you to all at the North
Yorkshire Moors.
Below are a few random pictures from a mostly very damp Friday the 28th.
